Car hits scooter; pillion hurt
Manjit Rai, a resident of Sector 7, was hit by a Maruti car bearing a UP registration number near the ISBT in Sector 17. Jagmohan Lal, who was riding pillion on Rai’s scooter, has been injured and admitted to the PGI. In another road accident, Praveen Kumar, a motorcycle rider reportedly rammed into a Sector 38 resident, near the latter’s house. While Kumar fled the spot leaving his motorcycle behind, the injured pedestrian has been admitted to the PGI. The police have registered separate cases.

Two cars stolen
J S Lamba, a resident of Sector 33, complained to the police that his Maruti car (No CH01 0583) was stolen from his residence. In another case, Surjit Singh of Sector 32 complained that his car (No CH01H 0036) was stolen from his residence. Separate cases have been registered.

Six arrested
The City police have arrested six persons, including the manager of a hotel and restaurant in Sector 22, for consuming liquor in the restaurant without a licence. Joginder Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Sanjiv Kumar, Ashwini Kumar, Pratap Singh and Charan Singh have been placed under arrest.
