Sourav Ganguly scored a quick unbeaten 61 at Cardiff to bail Glamorgan out of a precarious position. In reply to Kent8217;s mammoth first innings score of 568, Glamorgan were struggling at 79/3 when Ganguly came in to bat. He hit eight boundaries and a six in his 73-ball knock, and has put on 96 for the fourth wicket with David Hemp. Glamorgan need a further 196 to avoid follow-on.

Pathan scores 68

Irfan Pathan displayed his batting prowess in making an invaluable 68 in Middlesex8217;s first innings against Surrey . The Indian8217;s 93-ball knock that included 11 boundaries and his 98-run stand with wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Scott 64 not out guided the side to an imposing 437 against Surrey for whom off-spinner Harbhajan Singh took two wickets. Pathan fell to his compatriot8217;s off-spin when he failed to read a delivery and was castled.

Bhajji takes two

Harbhajan8217;s was a marathon spell as he bowled 35 overs in the innings taking two wickets, including the highest scorer Jamie Dalrymple 77, giving away 87 runs. Pathan bowled 12 overs in Surrey8217;s reply without success. At stumps, Surrey were 157/2 from 52.4 overs.
