CHANDIGARH, Oct 24: A city court here turned down the anticipatory bail application of Ravi Das, one of the two charged with counterfeiting currency notes. It may be recalled that while Ravi and Sanju were booked under Section 489 A IPC from Dhanas on October 20, Sanju was not produced in the court on October 22. The search officer appointed by the court to search for him reported that he was not to be found in custody.
Meanwhile, the bail application of Ravi was vehemently argued in court on Saturday, with the defence counsel reiterating that Section 489A counterfeiting currency is not made out. He said: quot;Only 489 C is made out because the accused was simply in possession of a fake8217; note.quot;
Judicial Magistrate Ist Class Jitender Walia who heard the arguments, however, rejected the bail application and held that the offence was triable by the Sessions Court.An appeal against the said order will be filed in the court of UT Sessions Judge tomorrow.
