Cops search for MTNL linesman

MUMBAI, November 23: The police are on the lookout for a Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd MTNL employee who allegedly tried to molest a teenager in Santacruz E on Saturday afternoon.

The Vakola police said 16-year-old Savita name changed, a Valmiki Nagar resident, opened the door to Rampal Ramdev Yadav, the MTNL linesman, who had come to attend the dead telephone at 2 pm. Finding her alone, he tried to molest her. However, she managed to escape his clutches and raise an alarm. Before the neighbours could gather, Yadav took to his heels and disappeared. He left his tool bag behind.

During investigations, the Vakola police found that Yadav was attached to the Vile Parle telephone exchange. A dragnet has been spread to nab the culprit, the police added.
