CHANDIGARH, Nov 4: A 26-year-old widow residing in Sector 40, has accused a team of City policemen headed by a sub-inspector for ransacking her house and stealing a gold chain.

In a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police, CSR Reddy, the woman has alleged quot;about eight to ten uniformed policemen stormed her house in the afternoon on Monday.8221; She added that the policemen started kicking the door of her house which was locked and forced her to open the lock and barged in without informing her of the reason despite her appeals. quot;The police officer, whose was wearing a name plate bearing the name Jaspal Singh began threatening me. But after they found nothing they left but without telling me why they were there. There was no lady police person with them,8221; she said.

Sub-inspector Jaspal Singh, reacting to querries, said that he had recieved information over the phone that two men had been hiding inside the house.

SSP Reddy, when questioned on whether the police had the right to enter the house of an individual and leave without giving reasons said that the facts were being verified and that an enquiry had been marked to the area DSP.
