Contractor booked for cutting trees without permission

A contractor was today booked for cutting trees without the permission of the Forest department. He had been assigned the task by Jainendra Gurukul in Old Panchkula.

While the secretary of the school refused to comment on the issue, Santosh Kumar Tiwari, a resident of Gurukul colony said: 8220;The school authorities had received permission to cut 10 trees on Thursday for the construction of a stadium. They, however, got around 36 trees cut by the contractor.8221;

8220;We visited the spot after being informed about the matter. A daily diary report DDR has been lodged against BK Jain, secretary of Jainendra Gurukul, and the school would now be fined for this,8221; said Sunil Kumar, forest range officer.

The school authorities, however, refused to comment on the issue.
