CHANDIGARH, Aug 20: A city police constable was injured when the motorcycle he was driving was reportedly hit by a car here yesterday. Incidentally, the control room constable had gone to inquire into the credentials of the car, following a complaint that it was parked in suspicious circumstances.

The Police Control Room got a call that a Maruti car CH-01-X-8191 was parked near Kala Bhavan in Sector 16. Police sources said that PCR Constable Satnam Singh and Gunman Subhash Chander went to attend to the complaint on their motorcycle. They stopped their bike behind the car in which a man and a woman were sitting. On spotting them, the car driver sped off, running over Satnam Singh8217;s foot in the process. Satnam tried to stop the car with his helmet, which broke its glass pane and injured his hand. The police followed the car and got the man8217;s name and address.

While Satnam Singh has been admitted to the Sector 16 General Hospital, the police have registered a case of causing injury by rash driving.
