ITANAGAR, FEB 8: Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary P B Acharya today alleged that the Congress and 8220;some other anti-national agents8221; have hatched a conspiracy to defame the BJP-led Government at the Centre.

Acharya, who is the party in-charge of the north-eastern states, said the Inter-Services Intelligence ISI of Pakistan was also part of the plot.

He said minorities, particularly Christians, are being systematically harassed by anti-national elements only to blame the BJP Government. The BJP would stay in power despite attempts by vested interests to overthrow it, he added.

Acharya said people are agitating against harassment meted out to Christians in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa, but nobody condemned the demolition of about 30 Saraswati idols in 24 Parganas district of West Bengal recently. The CPI M-led Government of Jyoti Basu in West Bengal could not even arrest a single culprit, he added.

He also criticised Congress president Sonia Gandhi for not visiting Orissa and MadhyaPradesh where religious minorities were harassed and even killed.

Condemning the killings and atrocities against Christians throughout the country, the BJP leader demanded an inquiry into all the incidents so that the culprits could be brought to book.

He alleged that funds meant for centrally-sponsored schemes in some of the North-eastern states are being diverted, especially for benefits of only the ruling party leaders and workers.
