With Muslims drawing the attention of the UPA Government, President Pratibha Patil wants to keep herself abreast of the news and views of the minority community. Last month, she asked for five mainstream Urdu newspapers to be delivered to Rashtrapati Bhavan and directed that a translator be appointed to prepare a daily brief of the main news and editorials. A retired officer has also been put on the job to help the President feel the pulse of the community.
