Andre Nel took the key wickets of Brian Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpaul as South Africa marched towards victory on the fourth day of the third Test against the West Indies in Barbados on Sunday.
The West Indies, who need 252 to make South Africa bat again, were reeling on 119-7 at tea. Courtney Brown was 28 not out with Daren Powell on five. Victory will give South Africa an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series with one test to play. Fast bowler Nel struck in successive overs to trap the West Indies’ most experienced batsmen leg-before.
Lara, who scored 13, played back to a Nel inswinger in the sixth over after lunch.
The ball missed Lara’s inside edge and struck him on the back leg and on line with his off stump making umpire Billy Bowden raise a crooked index finger.
In his next over Nel pitched a ball on the left-handed Chanderpaul’s off stump. (Reuters)
