CMCH hands over body to relatives

After four days, Najjar Singh8217;s body was finally released from Christian Medical College and Hospital. Notable here is that Najjar Singh is a resident of Sahnewal had succumbed to injuries that he received during a clash in July this year. After two months of hospitalization, Singh died last Friday.

But then all this not happen without Najjar Singh8217;s family holding a protest dharna at the hospital which ended only after the body was released.

The relatives of the deceased were protesting against the hospital authorities as the hospital authorities had refused to hand over the dead body of the deceased to his relatives as the family owes the hospital a bill of about Rs. 2.18 lakhs.

Dr Kanwal Masih, medical superintendent, said it8217;s true because here in the hospital we start the treatment immediately and other hospital charge in advance. He said that the body had been handed over to the family. Dr Masih said the management decided to hand over the body after the villagers pleaded that family of the deceased was in penury.
