Christmas evening will see a special treat in store for lovers of Hindustani music. A special recital, Unforgettable Abhisheki, by maestro Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, is being organised by Banyan Tree and the Tarangini Trust. The concert on December 25, 6:30 pm at the RangnBhavan, is a tribute to legendary vocalist Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki. The proceeds of the show will go towards funding his dream project, a pension scheme for elderly musicians, Guru Dakshina. The evening will begin with a short recital by his son and disciple, Shounak Abhisheki. It will also feature an exhibition of rare portrait-photographs: almost life-size pictures of great masters, taken by the late Hemant Pithwa. All in all, an event that shouldnacirc;euro;trade;t be missed.
