Passion for excellence
Want to give your career that extra zing! Most upwardly mobile people enroll for management seminars, which provides them some insight into new strategies. On Wednesday, November 18, TASMAC has organised a seminar, with the world-renowned Ziglar Corporation. The mission of the US-based Ziglar Training Systems is to help people accomplish worthwhile goals in their personal lives and careers. Krish Dhanam, a management expert from USA, will deliver the address on `Leadership Excellence and the Management Advantage for the 21st century.’ The Seminar is scheduled from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.

Creative credibility
On Children’s Day on November 14, the Chitranjan Vatika was alive with the sound of little children who had come for a drawing competition organised by Child Relief and You (CRY). Artist Ravi Paranjape was invited to preside over and insisted that no prizes be given. He felt it would discourage the others, if some children were selected and awarded. Participation certificates were hence given to all the children. The competition attracted many children, including foreigners and some handicapped children, painting very seriously and putting in their best. A competition with a difference!

Child’s play
Another kiddies day out took place at the nascent Anandban Club in Aundh. The day began with a swimming competition for the youngsters of different age groups followed by a painting competition. The response was overwhelming as kids of the area flocked to the club, parents in tow, to test their physical and creative abilities.

Evening saw the well known magician, Sanjay Raghuvir, arrive with a bag full of tricks. A karate demonstration that wowed the kids and adults alike, a prize distribution ceremony and finally a movie show wrapped up a hectic but enjoyable day for the kiddos. With family fun and entertainment being the raison d’etre of this club, they sure seem to be doing things right.

Dance recital
Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association of Mira Society , Salisbury Park, organised a Bharat Natyam dance programme on November 8 in S.V. Hall. The dance programme was presented by 29 students of Mythili Raghavan. Children of all ages participated in the programme. The children were accompanied by veteran professionals like vocalist Meenakshi Subramaniam, violinist Rajlakshmi Pichhumani and K.Venkatraman on the mridangam. Mythili Raghavan who organised and conducted the programme has presented dance recitals in Nepal, Australia, Singapore, the Fiji Islands, Zambia and Nigeria.

Traditional hues
Tradition sees us invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesh before embarking on any new venture, and Prashant Kulkarni has learnt his lessons in tradition well. An engineer by profession, Kulkarni is furthering his childhood hobby too – painting. Currently, his first exhibition is on display at the Balgandharva Kala Dalan, and rightly, the theme is Ganesh. Twenty one oil paintings on this theme dominate the exhibition, with a couple of portraits too. “Portraiture is my first love, and also where my skills lie, and I have put together a three-dimensional portrait, using three canvases,” says Kulkarni. This exhibition having started on the right note, maybe there will be more.

Time to commune
It’s that time of the year again. The Osho Commune International gears up for Osho’s birthday celebration in the pomp and style of every year. Beginning December 7, the six-day celebration is a kaleidoscope of music, dance and even Zen martial arts. Amongst the many artistes to perform at the Gautama the Buddha auditorium are musician Louis Banks, classical singer Shubha Mudgal and dancers Shovana Narayan and Pratibha Prahlad. Another programme on the itinerary is a fancy dress costume party that invites you to come dressed as your favourite Osho book title! An interesting medley.

Good rockin’ ahead
One of the most popular groups in the the world, Def Leppard is going to rock Mumbai on November 19, at the Leela Kempinski. And if one wanted to be there, one did not necessarily have to go to the metropolis to buy tickets. Those interested won them in amche Pune itself. Teenagers just had to be there at Symbiosis and Wadia college canteens or at Black Cadillac, Thousand Oaks, Thunderbolt and Havana last weekend, on November 14, 15 and 16 and but a chilled Pepsi. The customers were then eligible to try their luck at a lucky dip – and though not all could win free tickets to the show, they did get complimentary CDs, cassettes, groovy posters and notepads.
