Harmony incorporated
Though this was the first time Satish Babbar performed live in Pune he didn8217;t feel that way. 8220;The audience was so encouraging with all my new songs that it was as if they have known me for ages,8221; says Babbar. But what they perhaps don8217;t know is that Babbar has won many prestigious awards. He got the National award in 1994 for family welfare songs, the Rajdhani award for best artist and the Gyani Zail Singh Sadbhavana award, 1998 for communal harmony. But Babbar does not want to rest on his past laurels. He now plans to expand the parametres of his music to include not just family and communal harmony songs, but also national integration. The album titled Agar will be released this month. After this can we expect a ghazal on international harmony? Only time will tell.

Ethnic Pottery
Pune gets more and more decor-savvy these days. Jewells Art Gallery Thackers House, East Street presents an exhibition on ethnic pottery from Khurja Uttar Pradesh. Pottery articles are getting more and more popular these days, as they make attractive display items and have utility value at the same time. The predominant colour at the exhibition is cobalt blue, followed by earthy browns and reds. So you have serving bowls can be used in the microwave too and plates, coffee mugs, planters, pots and lamps, within a reasonable price range. The exhibition has been organised by China Handicrafts from 10 a.m to 9 p.m. from September 3 to 12.
