Mud 8217;bout U
What8217;s worse than the puddles that form on the roads during the monsoons? Having the slush thrown on your face and clothes by a set of wheels! It was probably an unpleasant experience of this kind that prompted Sachin Kulkarni, who works at Mantri Constructions Ltd, to take up the unusual practice of buying and keeping around half a dozen mudguards with him, as he moves around town on his two-wheeler.

One rude splash on his laundered clothes and immediately, Kulkarni swerves to the front of the offending vehicle, forces it to halt, and pulls out the mudguards, insisting that the driver procure them for his vehicle8217;s wheels so that he does not repeat the performance. An added Rs 10 is then levied by Kulkarni, no, not as service charge but for the money he would be required to dish out to get his clothes laundered all over again. Now that8217;s a novel way to make careless motorists come clean.

Funky town
Ever since the country8217;s gone nuclear, everyone wants to have a blast 8211; but mercifully, the kind associated with fun and games. And this is precisely what is lined up at Ambrosia, with Channel V hosting the Bacardi Blast Nite on June 27. It promises to 8220;create sound waves that will shake up the city from its slumber8221; thank you! and this includes 8220;hip, hop, trance and jungle music.8221;

Adding even more glitter to the evening will be hosts Laila, the Close-Up Close Encounters gal, and model Marc Robinson, who should seriously consider shifting to Pune, given the frequency with which he troops into the city.

Great music, snazzy dances, request numbers and the presence of the Channel V crew to shoot the party should make up for a tempting package alright. So, all those with the will but not the passes, are advised to make an appearance at Toons, Ten Downing Street or Videotron on June 25, or then at Pool Inn, The Juke Box, 1000 Oaks or Bullocks on June 26 and convince Marc into parting with a pass.

Incidentally, the party is being brought to Pune by Bacardi, in association with Thums Up and Clorets, with The Indian Express being the press sponsors. So, take out your dancing shoes and get ready for the Saturday night fever that8217;s going to hit the town this week.

Scoring high
Yet another Channel V VJ to come visiting this weekend is Raageshwari, who8217;s will host a do at the Residency Club on June 27. The party is to celebrate the success of the SSC and HSC examinations in the city, and passes for it were distributed to loads of students sometime back.
