Employing good sense
Motiram Nesamani does not believe in saying no to life. 8220;I have learnt to think positively,8221; he says. One of seven children and born in straitened circumstances, Nesamani was struck by polio when just three years old. He says, 8220;I had a peculiar kind of polio which had afflicted my right hand and left foot. I could only start to walk once I was nine years old, and for a long time, did not weigh more than 30 kg.8221;

His health, which caused him problems during his school days, continued to do so even when he was looking for a job. 8220;I put in hard work but never felt I was given the appreciation I deserved and so changed a string of jobs,8221; he says. Today, at the helm of his own trading firm, which deals in computer spare parts, Nesamani can look back with the satisfaction of having tried and not given up. 8220;My philosophy in life has been to live by the principles of discipline, hard work and sincerity,8221; he says.

Driven by a desire to help others who are on the lookout for a job, Nesamani started his own placement cell. 8220;I have faced a tough time on account of my disability. I do not want others like me to face the same problems, so I would like to help them find employment,8221; he says. Any takers?

Art, the explorer
Using art as a medium of exploring our emotions are artists Megha Choudhary-Patil and Aabsaheb Landge. Their expression is what Aavishkar, an exhibition of their paintings, is all about. As their brush conjures up images indicative of our darkest feelings, our deepest desires, here8217;s your chance to see the finished products at the Balgandharva Kala Dalan, from May 29 to 31, between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Discover your mind on their canvas.

Cool comfort
Move over luxury buses, State Transport ST is fast getting comfy. A few months back, The Indian Express had reported how a bus conductor of the Pune-Ahmednagar ST bus had spent his own money to make passengers comfortable. He had the seats cushioned and also installed a tape recorder, a mobile phone and fans towards this end. Ansar Jagirdar, the conductor, had then said that he had a good pay and a good job thanks to the ST, so this was his way of returning the favour.

But now, the man has taken his gratitude further. Bearing the cost of Rs. 6,200 himself, he had the bus fitted with an air-cooler. Says he, 8220;I modified the cooler by fitting it with an invertor and have kept it in the driver8217;s cabin. This cooler has a throw of upto 50 feet.8221; Really cool, isn8217;t it?
