
NEW DELHI, May 3: Spirited CISF overcame a fighting OBC to annex the Dr Ambedkar football title. Leading 1-0 at half-time, CISF were in their best today. They took early lead in the 11th minute when Raj Ghoshal’s attempt found the target. Bernard Job increased the margin nine minutes later when he converted a square pass from Dinish Kumar.
OBC launched a fightback after the break and succeeded in reducing the margin through Sanjeev Sharma. But CISF increased the pace of the game and denied OBC further chances. Olympian wrestler and Deputy Director (Edn/Sports) Sat Pal announced that from next year this tourney would carry a prize money.
Nivia Soccer: Government Senior Secondary School, Moti Bagh qualified for the semifinals of the Nivia football tournament by beating Usman Azad School, Akola 1-0 at Ambedkar Stadium. Yugal Kishore scored the all-important goal in the fourth minute.
Apex School (Burari) were awarded full points when their opponents DAV School (Noida) failed to turn up for their match.
