SINGAPORE, Aug 17: India8217;s Chiranjeev Milkha Singh staged a superb rally as he raised his game to card three under par 69 in his last round to finish third while Myanmar8217;s Zaw Moe ended a frustrating seven-year wait for a big title by winning the Omega Tour8217;s 500,000 Singtel Ericsson Open Golf Championship, today.

The second Indian in the fray, Gaurav Ghei failed again, hitting poor three over par 75 to total 292 71,70,76,75 and slipped from 56th place to end up at joint 63rd slot which fetched him 957.

The 25-year-old Chiranjeev Milkha Singh was in his elements and played steady golf. He hit four birdies but double bogied on the second hole while on his way out. Jeev, who was joint 15th at the end of third round, made a dramatic recovery to climb up the leader board to finish with a total of seven under par 281 73,68,71,71 to earn a cheque of 23,375.

With today8217;s showing, the Indian would have been in the reckoning for the title, but his round yesterday proved his undoing.

In what is the first major8217; of the year of the Omega Tour, Singapore-based Moe shot a final round even-par 72 to win on 11-under-par 277 by three strokes from American Fran Quinn. Jeev, Ecuador8217;s Rafael Ponce, American Gerry Norquist and Thailand8217;s Boonchu Ruangkit took third place on seven-under-par 271.

Moe, having started the final day four strokes ahead of five players, failed to find his swing for much of the early part of his round and with four holes to play, led by two strokes from Quinn and Norquist.

Facing the toughest test of his professional career, Moe pulled out the stops at the right moment by firing birdies on 15th and 16th to clear the way for a calm victory stroll up the last.

Attempting to finish his round off in style, Moe charged his 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th past the hole and missed the return par-putt from three feet. 8220;I got a little excited on that birdie putt. I should have lagged it,8221; said Moe.
