Chinese whispers

Whispers of a Chinese connection in the DRDO8217;s project to develop an indigenous 8216;eye in the sky8217; Airborne Early Warning System AEWS have raised alarm bells. The talk started after the DRDO penned a deal with Brazilian manufacturer Embraer to acquire three EMB 145 jets for the project. Word has it that the only assembly line for this particular aircraft has been outsourced by Embraer to China. While the DRDO has come on strongly to say that the aircraft will be manufactured in Brazil, the manufacturer is not so certain. An Embraer spokesperson said he could not comment on where the aircraft would be assembled but assured that they would be delivered on time.
