CHENNAI, MAR 4: In an operation resembling a potboiler, police nabbed six dacoits who robbed three people of their valuables soon after their arrival from Malaysia by flight, after a hot car chase late last night.

Police said the dacoits followed the three persons in a Maruti van after they left the Anna international air terminal at Meenambakkam and intercepted their van at Pottangadu near Madurantakam.

They took away seven sovereigns of gold and 50 Malaysian dollars from the three, who were on their way home to Manamadurai.

One of the victims immediately informed a deputy superintendent, following which police swung into action and nabbed six of the dacoits. The Maruti van used by the dacoits was also seized and a hunt was on for the seventh dacoit.
