
Name game
Many constituencies have seen voters confused over the names of candidates 8212; their first names are the same. At least six constituencies have contestants with the same first names. Greater Kailash has Congress candidate Jitendra Kochar slugging it out against Jitendra Kumar Gupta of the Indian Progressive Congress party. Similarly, Dr Anita Babbar and Devendra Yadav, Congress contestants from Tilak Nagar and Badli constituencies respectively, have independents with same first names fighting against them. A senior Congress leader said: 8220;Sometimes such a move is aimed at confusing voters; the Congress has done so in the past and other parties seem to have taken a leaf out of our book.8221;
Sweeten voters
In an attempt to distribute free gifts to voters in a 8216;safe8217; way, without violating guidelines of the Election Commission, contestants from all parties are using newer ways everyday. While some have weighed their contestants with one-rupee and two-rupee coins, the BSP has decided to weigh its contestants with laddus in some constituencies. Suresh Gupta, senior worker of the party8217;s Delhi unit, said, 8220;Coins don8217;t help the voters much; we decided to weigh them in laddus so that people could at least have some sweets.8221;
