Everybody has great expectations from Syed Kirmani. It8217;s absolutely true that Indian cricket has been needing a specialist wicket keeper for a very long time. At least we have got one today as the chairman of the selection committee. BCCI have selected Syed Kirmani for this job.

When Kiran More was selected for this post, many had hoped that he would have been instrumental in ensuring that a specialist wicketkeeper is included in the team, yet we continued to rely on the services of Rahul Dravid. But at least now we can hope to see a safe pair of hands behind the stumps since we have one in the post of the chairman of the selection committee. Kirmani had always criticised the selectors on this issue. Now the ball is in his court. Let8217;s see if he collects this googly cleanly or whether he gives away byes!

Hats off to Soma Mukhopadhyay for her undaunted efforts and amazing courage and Tito8217;s amazing response. Through your columns I wish to convey my respects to a great patriotic and romantic singer 8216;A forgotten song8217;, IE, September 30. I remember him more for 8216;Ami duranta baishakhi jhar8217; and 8216;Shesh chithi8217;. No other singer has blended so perfectly the themes of love and patriotism. The last of the giants has gone unsung and unnoticed by Indians who invent patriotism for MTV.
