
The Union Ministry of Power has constituted a steering committee for implementation of the Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme APDRP under the 11th five-year plan. The committee would be headed by Union Power Secretary Anil Razdan.
A spokesman of the Haryana Power Utilities said here today that Haryana would have a strong representation in the steering committee as the state8217;s financial commissioner and principal secretary power, Ashok Lavasa, has been appointed as a member of the committee for one year.
The committee would approve the guidelines for operationalisation of various components of the scheme, including the approval of the charges to be paid to the nodal agency; it would sanction projects, including modification of revision of estimates and monitor and review the implementation of the scheme.
It would also sanction activities to be taken up by the ministry under part C of the scheme, appoint agencies for verification and validation of base-line data systems and approve conversion of loan into grant.
The spokesman said that the Power Finance Corporation would be the nodal agency for the programme, and would provide manpower, material and other logistic support to the committee for smooth implementation of the programme.
