It is shocking to know that the film had earlier been accepted for exhibition on TV but a second thought, or advice, compelled DD to ask Jha to remove some references to Emergency excesses which are historical facts. Simply because these facts are unpalatable to the Congress party they should not be suppressed. This shows how the Congress government abhors facts of history. Nobody should be surprised if the 8220;eminent historians8221; erase the word 8220;Emergency8221; from all available records and dub anyone writing or talking about those days as a 8220;saffrronite8221;.

8226; If you reflect dispassionately, Prakash Jha8217;s film on JP should not be viewed selectively and only related to what happened after 8220;Emergency8221; was imposed. After all, sadly, JP had at one time invited the police and the army to disobey orders. And lest we have forgotten, his death was announced, albeit mistakenly, by the Morarji government a good two days before it happened! The question we lay people would like to ask is whether references have been made to these aspects also in the documentary. If the answer is yes, then the DD decision to ask for selective cuts may not be fair.
