Cable operators8217; meet

CHANDIGARH, June 18: Responding to the Municipal Corporation8217;s announcement that cable operators will be taxed, the Chandigarh Cable Operators Combine met here today to assess the impact of the tax and chart their course of action.

The operators fear that the combination of higher costs on account of pay channels and Municipal Corporation8217;s tax will force many out of business. Subscribers will resent the enhanced charges if increased business costs are passed on to them.

The cable operators were highly critical if the Corporation for formulating the announced policy without associating any of their representatives or consulting them at any stage. A delegation of Combine members will meet the Mayor to express their distress and press for a revision of the policy.
