Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh can8217;t help talking about his new-found friendship with Congress heir apparent Rahul Gandhi these days and is overjoyed at the setting up of the Congress-SP coordination committee, thus assuming the position the Left enjoyed once. He has also been also telling everyone that he is going to Kolkata to persuade Mamata Bannerjee to join hands with the Congress and then to Andhra Pradesh to pursue the options of bringing cine-star Chiranjeevi into the UPA camp. One of his recent missions took him to the doorsteps of JDS chief H D Deve Gowda, who is in the Left bloc. The 8220;humble farmer8221; kept avoiding the SP leader8217;s calls on his mobile, but the ever-resourceful Singh caught him on his landline. Gowda, however, is said to have politely refused to cross over to the UPA. What he perhaps didn8217;t reveal is that son H D Kumaraswamy is already in touch with Sonia Gandhi8217;s political advisors for Karnataka.
