
GURGAON, JAN 22: Concerted efforts of the Haryana and Delhi police have led to the identification of certain gangs suspected to be behind a series of robbery incidents in the Capital8217;s South-West district and Gurgaon. Senior police officials though, have declined to reveal the identities of these gangs as it may hamper the investigations. However, they are confident that a breakthrough is certainly on the cards.
Newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Gurgaon range, P. K. Mahtain in an exclusive conversation with ENS, informed that joint raids are being conducted on the hideouts of the suspected gangsters and they are hopeful of working out these cases very soon.
A special meeting of the officers of Haryana and Delhi police was convened at Gurgaon on January 5 to prepare the strategy for joint operations following incidents of dare devil robberies in Najafgarh and Gurgaon. The meeting was attended by DCP, South-West, P. K. Bhardwaj, ACP Anti-Robbery cell Prithpal Singh, ACP Najafgarh Amit Rai, Ved Pal Singh Rathi, ACP Crime Branch, Additional DCP, South R. S. Ghoman besides other officers of the Delhi police.
The DIG, P. K. Mehta said that from now on they will have a regular exchange of information with the Delhi police. Mehta said that he had personally spoken to the Additional Commissioner of police, Amod Kanth to impress upon the need for launching joint operations.
He said that soon after taking charge of Gurgaon range, he had conducted review meetings with the SSP8217;s, DSP8217;s and SHO8217;S of the Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rewari and Mahendragarh districts to judge and assess the crime pattern in the area and prepare action plans to combat the same. 8220;The police have taken some measures which include preparing details of persons who have indulged in criminal activities, particularly in rural areas, intensive vigil on the movement of criminal tribes 8212; Sansis, Bawarias, Pardis, forming special teams to deal with the cases of unidentified dead bodies, missing persons etc. These teams will exchange information with neighbouring districts and maintain close liaison with Delhi police, and their tasks will include intensive patrolling and strengthening of the nakas,8221; he informed The DIG has personally briefed all the 42 Station House Officers of his range regarding the future plan of action and has sent tough signals in case there is non-implementation and laxity.
