CHANDIGARH, June 23: Apprehending breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquillity, the Chandigarh Administration has put a check on migrant labourers visiting the city in search of jobs in non-formal trades.

As per the order issued by District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner, M. Ramsekhar under Section 144 of Cr.PC, the migrant labourers will have to provide their particulars to the local police for identification and verification of criminals. The order will be effective for 60 days from today.

The order shall be promulgated in the city by announcement through publicity vans and by affixing copies of order on notice boards in the office of DC and any breach of order will be met with action under Section 188 of IPC.

According to a government spokesman, All those plying rickshaws, rehris, auto-rickshaws, besides dhobis, cobblers will be covered in the order.
