
MUMBAI, July 3: Bengal Mumbai Football Club beat Union bank 2-1 in a Gulf Oil WIFA League Super Division football match at the Cooperage today. A 36th minutes strike by Francis Pereirra put the bankmen in the lead. But Adil Ansari struck a minute before half-time to put BMFC at par with Union Bank. BMFC, who are making their debut this year clinched the issue through a 58th minute goal by GP Singh.
Young boys down MLWB
Young boys of Sahar defeated MLWB, Goregoan by 2-0 in the Division II MDFA football league played at the St Xavier Ground, Parel today. Young Boys took lead early in the very first minute of the match when Ajay Shetty tapped in off a pass from Clint Santos.
Shibhu George scored the second goal in the 14th minute with a powerful right foot shot. In an earlier match, MLWB Worli beat Young Challengers 3-0. Bharat Pillay scored a brace while Vivek Vernekar added third to the tally.
MSSA football clinic
The Mumbai Schools Sports Association MSSA will be conducting afootball clinic on Friday, July 10 at 10.30 a.m. at the MSSA-Castrol Schools Sports Centre, Azad maidan North end for the member schools participating in the Inter-School tournament to educate the Sports teacher/coaches in the latest ammendments to the laws of football.
