The BJP high command has called a meeting of the core group of the Haryana state unit in Delhi on Saturday to discuss the issue of seat sharing with the Indian National Lok Dal. The meeting will be held under the leadership of Vijay Goel, incharge of BJP Haryana unit.
Sources in the BJP said the party8217;s political strategy in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections will also come up for discussion at the meeting. Haryana BJP president Atam Prakash Manchanda, senior leader Ram Bilas Sharma and 13 other top leaders of the state will participate in the meeting.
They are also expected to meet senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and the BJP president Rajnath Singh. Although leaders of the BJP and the INLD have denied any difference in opinion with regard to the seat sharing, the BJP has been keen to contest six seats from Haryana.
But sources in the INLD say they would not want to give away more than five seats to the BJP. No formal talks have been held on the subject between the two parties yet.
Talking to Newsline, rebel BJP leader Ram Kumar Gautam said he has not been invited to the meeting. 8220;I am against the BJP8217;s alliance with the INLD. Even if I go to the meeting, I would have opposed the poll pact and appealed to the high command to break the alliance,8217;8217; said Gautam. Gautam said he predicts that the BJP-INLD alliance would be a failure. 8220;The alliance will face the same fate in the Lok Sabha elections as Rajasthan,8217;8217; he said.
