The state BJP on Sunday announced its decision to fight the forthcoming elections in the state alone. The announcement put an end to the chances of a pre-poll tie up with the Trinamool Congress in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
8220;We were with Mamata Banerjee, but that was a long time ago. Everybody knows that she has severed ties with us. At this moment, there is no question of any alliance with any party in the state. If such a situation is created in future, we will see,8221; said BJP state president Satyabrata Mukherjee.
In a press statement issued by BJP state vice-president Col retd Sabyasachi Bagchi, the BJP attacked all the major political parties in the state, including the Trinamool Congress, Congress and the CPM. The BJP also accused the three parties of minority appeasement.
It criticised the stand of the three parties on the police encounter in Jamia Nagar and stated that their stand may fetch them extra minority votes in the border areas of Bengal but will also 8220;..give a fillip to an increase of infiltration of terrorists to this side of the border, endangering the Indian existence of West Bengal..8221; the statement read.
The statement also said minority-oriented votebank politics will be counter productive in Bengal as people would give a befitting reply.
The party expressed concern over the decrease in the water level in Haldia port due to insufficient dredging. 8220;The demise of the Haldia port will be disastrous for the economy of West Bengal as well as entire north-eastern India. Hence we want the ruling Left Front and the UPA government headed by Congress to stop playing politics at the cost of economic development..8221; the statement read.
The BJP state unit also lauded the economic development during the NDA regime at the Centre, and at present in Gujarat under Narendra Modi.
