Bharatiya Janata Party BJP national general secretary Kiran Ghai blamed the Congress-led UPA government today for the 8220;lack of coordination8221; between UT Administrator Gen S F Rogrigues retd and Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal.
Ghai, who is on a visit to the city, said: 8220;When the UPA government is not in a position to manage the functioning of even a small city like Chandigarh, how can they govern the country?8221;
She alleged that the UPA government has failed on all fronts, including internal security. 8220;There have been too many instances of bomb blasts in the recent past. We need to improve our security arrangements. It is strange that while the UT Administration moved a proposal for the sanction of extra posts in the Police department, the Finance department rejected it. It shows that security of the residents is not a priority with the government,8221; said Ghai.
L K Advani, BJP8217;s prime ministerial candidate for the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, will visit the city on November 16 to take part in the Vijay Sankalp Sammelan. 8220;A rally will be taken out in the city. Other events including Nav Matdata Abhinandan Sammelan will also be held to encourage first-time voters in the coming days,8221; she added.
Asked about the BJP candidate from Chandigarh in the general elections, Ghai said an announcement in this connection will be made by the party leadership.
8220;Efforts are also on at different levels to produce suitable women candidates,8221; she added.
