AUGUST 5: Local Bhartiya Janata Party activists organised a meeting at Khetwadi to protest Atul Shah8217;s nomination as candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in lieu of the sitting MLA, Mohan Raichura.

Local BJP party activists gathered at V P Road to question why the ticket was given to a man who had lost the corporation elections. Rajubhai Thakkar said the activists will demand an explanation from the leaders. 8220;The party probably doesn8217;t want candidates with clean records,8221; he remarked.

8220;After the assassination of Premkumar Sharma the constituency was like a orphan. It was Raichura who was an active force,8221;another party worker commented.

Party worker Shashikant Lotia said: 8220;We will go to the BJP office bearers and ask for an expanation, or we will take the path Raichura decides.8221; Raichura was not present at the meeting and it is still unclear whether he will go his own way.
