
Student forex norms eased
MUMBAI: The RBI has further simplified the procedure for release of exchange to students for studies abroad. Authorised dealers need not now insist on journey ticket while releasing exchange. They can also release exchange in the form of draft/telegraphic transfers and travellers8217; cheques and in the name of the student/educational institution as desired by the applicant. The student also now has the freedom to approach any dealer to draw exchange.
HTA8217;s Anil Bhatia dies of heart attack
MUMBAI: Anil Bhatia, general manager of ad firm HTA8217;s Mumbai office, passed away on August 28 following a heart attack. In a career spanning two decades, Bhatia, 45, led the growth of HTA8217;s Mumbai office. In 1985, he took over an office which billed just over Rs 10 crore. Today, HTA8217;s Mumbai office billing is set to cross the Rs 350-crore mark. An alumni of IIM Ahmedabad8217;s class of 1976, Bhatia joined HTA as an account executive in 1978. Bhatia went up the ladder to become theexecutive vice president of HTA and served on the board of Fortune Communications. Bhatia is survived by his wife and two children.
CITIL records 75 growth in turnover
MUMBAI: Citicop Information Technology Industries Ltd has announced a 75 per cent growth in the turnover for the fiscal 1998-99 over the previous year. The company recorded a total turnover of Rs 144.57 crore and profit before tax of Rs 51.11 crore up 63. It had a customer base spanning 60 countries, and its banking products ranked among the top 10 selling solutions in the world.
CDSL managing director Maiya quits
MUMBAI: P V Maiya, managing director of Central Depository Services Ltd CDSL, has offered to resign from the post. The resignation comes even from CDSL promoted by the Bombay Stock Exchange has started operations. When contacted, CDSL chairman S A Dave said the CDSL board is yet to accept the resignation of Maiya. CDSL has not achieved connectivity with NSDL so far.
