Gold, silver prices move up

MUMBAI: Prices of both silver and gold displayed steep rally on the bullion market due to firm global advices coupled with poor arrivals. Ready silver .999 fineness and tenderable silver rallied by Rs 100 each to close at Rs 8000 and Rs 8005 from the previous close of Rs 7900and Rs 7905 respectively. Raw silver .916 fineness firmed up by Rs 115 to end at Rs 7865. Ten-tola gold bar .999 purity prices shot up by Rs 350 to end at Rs 51,500 . Standard gold rose by Rs 20 to Rs 4380, while 22-carat gold was nominally quoted higher at Rs 4050.

MUMBAI: Nicholas Piramal is set to become one of the select 200 member companies of Massachusetts Institute of Technology8217;s MIT Industrial Liaison Programme ILP. The membership, which comes by way of invitation only, will help Nicholas Piramal create a relationship with quot;The Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technologyquot;, a major collaborative effort designed to focus science and technology on human health needs.

Nicholas Piramal will become the first Indian company to become a part of the programme. It joins a host of healthcare giants like Merck, Novartis and Warner Lambert, all currently members of the ILP.
