MUMBAI: Lupin Chemicals, the country8217;s largest manufacturer of anti-TB drug rifampicin, has registered a 20 per cent jump in net profits at Rs 6.97 crore for the first half of the current financial year compared with Rs 5.79 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. Total sales rose 12 per cent to touch Rs 55.67 crore from Rs 49.63 crore in the previous year, while operating profit jumped by 22 per cent to Rs 17.16 crore from Rs 14.03 crore in the previous year. Total expenditure stood atRs 40.38 crore. Interest and depreciation for the period were higher at Rs 7.84 crore and Rs 2.35 crore respectively. The company says that provision for taxation, if any, including minimum alternate tax will be determined and provided for at the end of the financial year. Gross profit after interest but before depreciation and taxation stood at Rs 9.32 crore.
