
ITC net profit rises 14.35
MUMBAI: Tobacco major ITC has recorded 14.35 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 400 crore in the first half of 1999-2000 as compared to a profit of Rs 350.08 crore last year. The company has registered a 23.78 per cent rise in pre-tax profits in the second quarter of current financial year. Net sales turnover grew marginally from Rs 1778.48 crore in 1998-99 first half to Rs 1832.75 crore in the same period this year. Reacting to the news, the ITC scrip went down marginally to Rs 769.15 as compared to Rs 769.80 on the BSE. ITC8217;s export turnover and foreign exchange earnings from hotel operations stood at Rs 328 crore in the first half.
Tata Chemicals net profit drops in H1
MUMBAI: The net profit of Tata Chemicals has dropped to Rs 62.38 crore during the half year ended September 1999 from Rs 100.41 crore in the same period of last year. It has achieved a lower sales and operating income at Rs 671.64 crore Rs 748.35 crore. The gross profit amounted to Rs139.94 crore against Rs 178.01 crore in the same period of last year.
Procter amp; Gamble net rises by 5 pc
MUMBAI: Procter amp; Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd PGHH has posted net profit of Rs 14.95 crore in the first quarter ended September 1999, up by 5 per cent from Rs 14.18 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. The company achieved sales of Rs 119.29 crore, a growth of 1 per cent over sales of Rs 117.76 crore in the corresponding period of the last year.
NRB Bearings net profit up by 71 pc
MUMBAI: The profit after tax of NRB Bearings for the first half of 1999-2000 has gone up by 70.97 per cent to Rs 7.95 crore from Rs 4.65 crore same period last year. The net sales touched Rs 56.10 crore, up from Rs 47.65 crore, showing a growth of 17.7. The net profit amounted to Rs 3.56 crore Rs 1.58 crore, an increase of 125.
Voltas reports profit of Rs 5.5 cr
MUMBAI: Voltas Ltd today reported a net profit of Rs 5.5 crore in the first half of the current accounting periodas against a loss of Rs 8.4 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. It has posted a lower sales of Rs 546.3 crore as against Rs 677.3 crore in the same period of last year. However, gross profit during the second quarter of the current fiscal was 10.65 lower at Rs 10.9 crore.
