Birthday bash turns into rash rioting

The attackers disappeared from the area following the tumultuous atmosphere prevailed by the residents at the areas and timly arrival of police, the police said.

Around midnight a strong mob from Uttreshwar Peth area marched to the Laxmipuri police station demanding the immediate arrest of Kandekar and hissupporters and squatted in front of the police station for a hour in support of their demand. The police have registered complaints and no arrests have been made so far, police added.

ROBBED: A contractor in the Public Works Department PWD was robbed of Rs 2.25 lakh by unidentified robbers at the busy central S T Bus stand here yesterday.

According to police, a complaint was lodged by the contractor, Suresh Gokuldas Shah hailing from Mangalwar Peth in Satara, he withdrawn the money yesterday from the Punjab National Bank and was returning back, when the incident occurred. Shah kept his bag with money in a Pune-bound bus and came out for a short period, police said and addd later when the bus crossed Kolhapur he checked his belongings and found that the bag was not in bus.
