Continuing their fine form Mahesh Bhupathi and Jonas Bjorkman took their maiden association two steps closer to glory in the Synsam Swedish Open in Bastad.

The top seeds 8212; taking time to settle down 8212; entered the semi finals with yet another three-set win. Late Thursday night, the Indo-Swedish pair got the better of Massimo Bertolini Italy and Robbie Koenig South Africa 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Next in their path are third seeds Karsten Braasch Germany and Mariusz Fyrstenberg Poland. The semis have been slated for Saturday.

In Gstaad Switzerland Leander Paes and Czech partner David Rikl had an agonising wait in the locker room as rain put paid to their chances of advancing to the semis of the Allianz Sussie Open.

In the quarters they meet Czechs Jiri Novak and Radek Stepanek on Friday.
