Kurmi leader Beni Prasad Verma will don a new role of acting as a bridge between the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party.

Talking to The Indian Express at the Faizabad Circuit House on Sunday, Verma said UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was his leader and BSP chief Mayawati his younger sister. An MP from the Qaiserganj Lok Sabha seat, Verma8212;who floated the Samajwadi Kranti Dal on March 198212;praised Sonia Gandhi as 8220;a very gentle lady in politics ditched by veteran Congressmen8221;.

Supporting Rahul Gandhi8217;s view over the issue of demolition of the Babri Masjid, Verma said if Rahul or Sonia were in power at that time, no one could have harmed the Babri Masjid and the structure could have been saved. He added that he would campaign for Congress candidates in the Assembly constituencies of eastern Uttar Pradesh and that a consolidation of Kurmi-Muslim votes there would give a big jolt to Mulayam.
