Irrespective of what plans the selectors have for him, Sourav Ganguly is going about his business as usual and, in the run up to the series against Australia, has ordered fresh bats, marking slight alterations in the weight to negotiate the pace-heavy attack.

Ganguly, who is known to keep a large number of bats in his kit bag, has ordered three bats weighing 1170gms and requested for a quick delivery to his Kolkata residence. The new bats have reduced 40 grams in overall weight 8212; a substantial alteration from a batsman8217;s point of view 8212; and the 8216;meat8217; of the bat is focused exactly in the middle. In theory, these alterations make it easier for batsmen to play the cut and the pull shots.

8220;Yes, Ganguly has requested a reduction in the weight of his bat from 1210gms to 1170gms and has asked to us to deliver it to him quickly. Apart from this, there are no other alterations,8221; says Jatin Sareen, owner of SS bats.
