DHAKA, Aug 17: Bangladesh border guards were on alert Monday to stop any attempt by India to force Bengali-speaking people across the frontier which Dhaka has warned will severely strain ties.
8220;The BDR is on alert. We are not interested to accept a single person in the name of push-in,8221; Major General Azizur Rahman, chief of the paramilitary Bangladesh Rifles BDR was quoted as saying by Ajker Kagoj daily.
8220;Indian border guards failed in similar attempts between 1992 and 1995 and they will also not succeed this time as our border guards will stop such move with the help of local people,8221; he added.
