Will someone tell Amitabh Bachchan to confine his crooning to Ir bir phatte and the occasional Holi song? To see how the Big B fails miserably when forced to overdo it in an album, just listen to the music of Ravi Chopra8217;s Baghban. Of the film8217;s nine songs, Bachchan features in four. His Bhojpuri-modelled number Hori khele Raghuveera, in association with Sukhwinder Singh, Alka Yagnik 038; Udit Narayan, stands out in an otherwise dull collection. Giving a flavour of UP8217;s rustic dialect, the song reminds you of Bachchan8217;s evergreen Holi number, Rang barse bheege chunarwali.

Pehle kabhi na mera haal Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik lifts the spirit a bit, but the next number Chali chali phir chali AB, Yagnik, Hema Sardesai and Aadesh Shrivastava is more a shrill jangle than anything.

Music director Shrivastava tries to show he can also sing8212;twice. Is he doing an Anu Malik who never loses a chance to prove his vocal 8220;prowess8221;?

After listening to Meri makhna meri soniye in instrumental, you are made to suffer the song again. Om jai jagdish may go down well with the religiously inclined. Sameer, among the most sought-after lyricists today, could have delivered better fare.
