Bad day for BEST

MUMBAI, July 8: The Borivli side were off to a good start in the first-half itself. They changed ends with a comfortable 2-0 lead. In the second session, BEST captain Mohammed Yusuf Shaikh, who complained of chest pain during this period, was taken to the hospital and it was later learnt that he passed away.

Shaikh, 38, had represented the State in the Nationals. This incident proved to be a dampener on his team8217;s spirit. They conceded two more goals in the second session and crashed out.

The goal scorers for Rangers were Valenky Rodrigues 2, Pratik Nerkar and Anthony Fernandes.

Earlier in the evening, Holy Cross Kurla whipped Kalina Strikers 4-0 in Pool A of the Third Division League. Roshan Kunder 2, Savio A Gomes and Chandu Kunder were the goal-getters.
