Shivani Naik and Shailendra Awasthi of The Indian Express walked away with the best feature writer award and the award for the best off-beat story, respectively, in the Tata Sports Journalism awards function for the year 2005-06, in Mumbai on Thursday. Loksatta8217;s Vijay Salvi was adjudged the best sports writer in Marathi.

In a function organised by the Sports Journalists Federation of India SJFI, Naik received the award for her feature on 8216;Rugby in India and the coach8217;s profile8217;, while Awasthi took home the honours for his 8216;Frisky business8217;, a story about a prized stallion Placeville.
