Automobiles take commanding lead

NEW DELHI, Aug 15: ccalcutta8217;s Indian Automobiles, comprising Pritish Kushari, Sukhranjan Ghosh, Debashish Roy, Snehasish Roy, Asim Mukherjee and Biswajit Biswas, took a commanding 39 international match point IMP lead over Khandelwal after the first 16 boards in the 48-board semifinal in the seventh Modipon Gold Cup Bridge Championships here on Friday.

The Calcutta team picked up 54 IMP, dropping 15 in the first session of the three session semifinal. Khandelwal face an uphill task, trying to recover the lost IMP in the remaining 32 boards.In the other semis, Delhi8217;s Dhampur Sugar Mills took a 26-IMP lead over league toppers Wellknit, picking up 44 IMP while conceding 18.

Earlier in the quarter-finals, Wellknit got a walkover as Buildindia conceded the match after trailing 22-103 IMP at the end of the second session of 12 boards in the three-session match.

Dhampur Sugar Mills beat fancied Formidables, beating them in all the three sessions to win 99-76.
