As the world worries about dying reading habits, politicians are perhaps the last lot from whom one would expect an extensive interest in reading books. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Kerala Assembly, V D Satheesan, has come out with a list of books he read in 2025. Satheesanās list of 60 books ā both in English and Malayalam ā includes Arundhati Royās Mother Mary Comes To Me, Amitav Ghoshās The Nutmegās Curse, Rodrigo Garciaās A Farewell to Gabo and Mercedes: A Sonās Memoir of Gabriel GarcĆa MĆ”rquez and Mercedes Barcha. Another one (The Menopause Brain by Lisa Mosconi), Satheesan had said, has changed his attitude towards women, including his wife.
Documenting Gig Workers
After throwing his weight behind them, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha will on Monday release a mini-documentary on the plight of gig workers engaged in the Capitalās quick commerce sector. Chadha, who earlier this month participated in protests by gig workers demanding fair pay, dignity and safety, spent a day in their shoes to exhibit the āpressure, the challenges and the small winsā as a 10-minute delivery rider in Delhiās freezing winter.
Vigilance for Noida Metro
The Centre has stepped in to appoint an official on additional charge as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), who oversees anti-corruption efforts, of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). The CVO of the Delhi Metro Rail
Corporation has been given the additional responsibility for now. The move comes a week after the Uttar Pradesh government removed the NMRC Executive Director after photos of him and the Managing Director were printed on the organisationās official calendar for 2026.
