
PUNE, MARCH 11: An exquisite art gallery, the first one of its kind in Pimpri-Chinchwad, will be opened at the Sant Tukarammaharaj shopping complex near Nigdi on Monday.
The art gallery, owned by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, will be inaugurated by renowned sculptor Narayanrao Sonawadekar. The first exhibition is being hosted by the state art directorate from March 15 to 21. The exhibition will be held between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and will be open for the public.
Located along the Pune-Mumbai highway, the art gallery is ideally suited for various exhibitions of work of art, Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Thakur said. Built at a cost of Rs 62.7 lakh, the art gallery is hexagonally shaped with elegant interiors. The total area of the gallery is 9544 sq feet on the ground and the first floors. Provision for installing 16 murals outside the gallery have also been made.
