Army celebrates raising of Engineer Sqn

The Army today celebrated the raising of an Engineer Squadron at New Amritsar Military Station, Khasa. The squadron was raised yesterday.

The Army today celebrated the raising of an Engineer Squadron at New Amritsar Military Station, Khasa. The squadron was raised yesterday.

Lt Gen Noble Thamburaj, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command and Colonel Commandant of 8216;The Bombay Sappers8217; visited New Amritsar Military Station to celebrate the occasion. He was accompanied by Lt Gen VS Tonk, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps.

A ceremonial mounted parade was presented by the newly-raised Engineer Squadron in the honour of the Colonel Commandant. An Army spokesman said that Lt Gen Noble Thamburaj has played an instrumental role in raising the squadron.

The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief hoisted the Engineers Flag during the parade, and commended the troops for the high standard of professionalism displayed by them.

Anita Thamburaj, president of AWWA Southern Command, Maj Gen PS Paul, General Officer Commanding, Panther Division, Commandant BEG and Centre Kirkee and a large number of veterans of Bombay Sappers were among those present on the occasion.
