KUALA LUMPUR, April 18: National champion Anupama Gokhale lost a winning game to IWM Mekhri Ovezova of Turkmenistan while IWM Bhagyashree Thipsay beat unrated Lim Jeannie of Malaysia in the eighth round of the Asian Women8217;s Chess Championship here today.

Top seed Xu Yuhua 6.5 of China continued to lead the table, holding Maria Sulistya 5 of Indonesia to a draw.

In a queen8217;s gambit accepted game, Gokhale sacrificed a pawn for attack but missed a simple two-move win to eventually lose after 38 moves.
